As part of my nightly summer routine, I slather on my favorite gradual self-tanner of the month. But because I have sensitive skin, I can't use just any product on my face, a limitation that can result in one of my biggest pet peeves — a drastically uneven, unnatural-looking tan.

My solution? Opting for a self-tanning moisturizer made with gentler, skin-friendly ingredients and vitamins specifically for the face. These picks offer the perfect faux glow:

For a quick boost of caramel color, try Lancôme Flash Bronzer Oil-Free Tinted Self-Tanning Face Lotion ($34). Formulated with vitamin E and light-reflecting micro-pearls, this transfer-resistant product supplies an immediate, flattering glow.

Ward off signs of aging while getting a natural, golden tan with Philosophy Here Comes the Sun Age Defense Gradual Glow Self-Tanner for Face ($26). For more intense color, use the light, oil-free, amino acid-packed formula daily.

If you're a self-tanner virgin, Jergens Natural Glow Healthy Complexion Daily Facial Moisturizer ($7) is for you! Rich in hydration, it's perfect for building believable color, and its SPF 20 protects against daily sun-exposure.

Tan Towel On the Glow Face Moisturizer ($10) leaves skin sunkissed and dewy. Its combination of retinol, jojoba, avocado and olive oil work to improve skin's texture and appearance.

For the tan-enthusiast, St. Tropez Gradual Tan Everyday Face ($25), absorbs into skin while depositing a touch of bronzed color. Enhanced with soothing aloe vera and antioxidant vitamin E, marine extracts boost melanin for an even deeper tan.

For fast color and a smoother looking complexion, opt for Clarins Instant Smooth Golden Glow ($34). The perfect complement to older skin, this self-tanner uses line-minimizing acacia micro pearls to plump fine lines, wrinkles and pores.
