Ivanka Trump has been taken aback by how cruel her father's political critics can be, she said on Monday.
In an interview on Fox, the president's daughter and senior adviser revealed that she hadn't prepared herself for the onslaught of criticism from detractors.
"There's a level of viciousness that I was not expecting," she said. "I was not expecting the intensity of this experience."
Trump, who, like her father, does not have prior experience in Washington, said the personal attacks have been jarring. "Some of the distractions and some of the ferocity, I was a little blindsided by on a personal level."
Though dealing with critics of her father's administration is harder than she thought it would be, she conceded: "This isn't supposed to be easy."
