Hi, I'm I'm Ying Chu, Marie Claire beauty director.

I'm Angela Lindvall.

And we're here in Uganda and here is the behind the scenes look at our beauty adventure with DKNY, a nonprofit group care.

Here we are. Just woke up in Uganda and I'm very excited about what we're gonna find today.

To be in a place where you see people living off a very few basic necessities of life is very humbling.

Immacula, the woman who grows the vanilla here.

She was having to harvest her beans before they were ready because she needs the money right away. And now, she can go get a loan, sustain her production longer and then, subsidise through growing other vegetables and pay her loans back. She's making more profits, more production and able to give jobs to other people.

That has been your vanilla.

I spoke with Navela and her and her husband are able to bring in more people to take care of the vanilla which has improved production and, therefore, make the money to send her children to school. To see that we've set up this village saving the Mom's program or care was just so rewarding. To see these women's eyes and heard them sing and to hear how this has actually affected their lives, it felt good to know that this program actually is making an impact in their lives. I'd say the best part of the trip was seeing the women sing and dance for us. You could just see the connection that they have to life and the joy in them.

It sounds like it's only been a positive endeavour and it's great to have a company like the DKNY has taken the initiative to make these choices and make a difference in so many women's lives.
