There have been a lot of rumors lately about how Selena Gomez's mom feels about Justin Bieber. In December 2017, Gomez and her mom, Mandy Teefey, even unfollowed each other on Instagram, suggesting that there was tension between mother and daughter, and only one likely culprit—Justin Bieber.
Gomez and Bieber famously reunited at the end of 2017, following Gomez's break-up from The Weeknd. While the world celebrated the return of Jelena, Gomez's family were apparently less impressed with the reunion. And now, Teefey has spoken to Gossip Cop about how she really feels about Bieber, and it's not pretty.
Of her daughter's rekindled romance with Bieber, Teefey said she was "not happy" but that "Selena can live her life however she wants as long as she is happy, safe and healthy." While she is resigned to the fact that Bieber and Gomez are back on, she clearly isn't a fan of the "Sorry" singer.
Teefey also told Gossip Cop, "Every mother and daughter has disagreements." And of her decision to step back as her daughter's manager, Teefey said, "We never expected to manage her her whole life. We lost family time because the only time we saw her, we talked business."
While Teefey seems content to no longer be managing Gomez's career, there's definitely some lingering tension regarding Bieber. Teefey reiterates that "Selena is an adult and can make her own choices," particularly when it comes to "what is at stake with her health."
Despite not being Bieber's biggest fan, it sounds like Teefey is still super supportive of her daughter, and only wants the best for her, so hopefully mother and daughter are on good terms.
