A Magazine Tried to Slim Zendaya's Body in Photoshop, and Naturally, She Wasn't Having It

"These are the things that make women self-conscious."

When Zendaya spotted an image of herself that was heavily retouched to thin her hips and torso, she didn't remain silent. On Tuesday night, she posted a side-by-side comparison of the before and after photo, telling fans she was shocked to see how a magazine she'd recently posed for chose to portray her.

"Had a new shoot come out today and was shocked when I found my 19 year old hips and torso quite manipulated," she said. "These are the things that make women self conscious, that create the unrealistic ideals of beauty that we have. Anyone who knows who I am knows I stand for honest and pure self love."

She said "I took it upon myself to release the real pic (right side) and I love it!"

According to Zendaya's postModeliste Magazine, which featured the photoshoot, took down the images and fixed the retouching issue. (Below is a video from the magazine's photo shoot which took place in Puerto Rico.)

If you've followed Zendaya's career, you know that she is definitely not someone to remain silent when people say or do things that are hurtful or mock her appearance (or that of the people she loves). It's not a surprise that she would call out the absurdity of suggesting that a young girl's body isn't thin or slender enough as it normally appears.
