It's the moment we've all been waiting for (well, since Marc Jacobs announced his departure from Louis Vuitton (opens in new tab)). The luxury French fashion house announced on Monday (opens in new tab) that Nicolas Ghesquière has been named as the new artistic director at Louis Vuitton! The New York Times reported (opens in new tab) that Ghesquière's first collection for brand will be autumn 2014.
Most recently, Ghesquiére held the position of creative director at Balenciaga, where he was beloved for transforming the aging maison into one of most progressive and inspiring fashion labels today. He has been unattached from a fashion house since November 2012, when Alexander Wang replaced him at Balenciaga. Ghesquière has been rumored to be the most likely successor to Marc Jacobs at Vuitton for some time, and we couldn't be happier that the rumors were true.
