Double Time Video

How to get a good strength-training workout when you’re short on time.

Hi, I'm John Spencer Ellis, Advisor for Exercise TV. If you're looking to save time and improve your results, here's a tip to get you started. I call this double time for the busy person who knows the importance of weight training, I suggest combining upper and lower body exercises to increase the intensity and decrease the duration of your exercise session. A couple of great examples include the squat and the overhead press. Squatting, shoulder, or hip width, lifting the chest, holding the weights here, inhaling down, and exhaling up, and then finishing with the overhead press or option number 2, inhaling down, and exhaling and finishing all at the same time. Another great example is the lunge with the lateral raise. So, I'm stepping back, rear heel elevated, chest is lifted, shoulders are squared off. Coming down inhale and exhale, raising out to the side and of course you will do both sides. Always remember to respect your limits.
