Get the Look: Creating Curls and Waves Video
Follow these steps to add luxurious waves and gentle curls to straight hair.
Let's face it, straight hair can get a bit boring after a while. We're going to show you how to add luxurious waves and gentle curls to straight hair. Here's how to get the look. Start by using a shampoo and conditioner that is designed for people with curls. I know, you don't have [unknown] yet, but this type of shampoo is a good start. Towel dry your hair, then apply a gallop of volumizer, then rub your hands together. Apply the volumizer by running your fingers through your hair, coating it from root to end. Blow dry your hair as evenly as possible. To add curls, you can use a curling iron or heated rollers. Either way, the whip of the curler will be the size of the curl. Take sections of your hair and wrap them around the curling iron or the roller. Spray hairspray lightly while there in place for a longer lasting hold. Hold them in the curling iron for a few seconds and then move on. If you're using curlers, remove them. Toss hair upside down and sponge the curls together. Spray a light coat of hairspray to hold the curl. If you're looking for a loose sexy way, start by blow drying your hair in section. While the section is hot, twist it around your finger and then wrap and secure it with a bobby pin. Do this over your whole head. For a messy look, twist hair in different directions. Spray each curl with hairspray after it's pinned. Leave the hairpin for about 10 minutes, when you take out the pin, run your fingers through your hair to loosen it up. That once straight hair now has movement and body.
