Sam Smith Will Sing the New James Bond Theme

The British crooner goes 007.

There have been whispers for quite some time, but we think Sam Smith (opens in new tab) is ready to shout, nay, croon it from the roof tops: He's been selected to sing the theme song for the next James Bond movie, a source tells Page Six (opens in new tab). We'll take this news with a martini, shaken, not stirred...

The British singer had been in talks with Bond producer Barbara Broccoli about taking on the theme, while Lana Del Rey (opens in new tab) was also campaigning for the storied honor. We know Del Rey would've done a stand-up job with her hypnotic purrs and devastatingly cool baselines, but no one makes a ballad soar like Smith. The untitled film will star Daniel Craig and is slated for a November 2015 release.

Between this and Beyoncé's earth-shattering announcement (opens in new tab) from earlier this morning, there's only one way to celebrate. Relive Sam Smith's #FLAWLESS Beyoncé karaoke here (opens in new tab).
