President Obama Just Endorsed Hillary Clinton for President

He's With Her. Did you expect otherwise?

President Obama announced today that he is endorsing Hillary Clinton for President of the United States. In a video released by Clinton's campaign, he referred to her as "the presumptive nominee" and suggested "there has never been someone so qualified to hold this office."

The announcement followed Obama's meeting (opens in new tab) with Clinton's Democratic primary opponent, Bernie Sanders, at the White House earlier today. Sanders emerged from that powwow promising to help Clinton defeat presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump, but did not say he was withdrawing from the race.

Obama's endorsement is the clearest indication yet that the Democratic primary is, in effect, over. He had stayed out of the fray since it began in earnest last April.
