MC@Play with Mika Video
Hey, it's Mika and you're watching marieclaire.com.
Once I get up, I feel better. Then I pull myself together. I remember those two letters. It will be OK. Everyone says now or never. I say only if it`s better. Be a night like this forever.
I wanted to make something that felt fresh, not just, you know, just not just sounding fresh. To me, I wanted to completely reinvigorate and evolve my sound and my songwriting process. It's a record that's really, really important to me. It was important to figure out the kind of person that I wanted to be for the next 10 years. That's what this album does. I don't come from a sound or a scene. Subsequently, I have to create my [unknown] surrounding. The [unknown] of my background certainly encourages me to create a whole world around my music and I think that's good to be inspired to kind of step into that. Whenever I'm doing like TV shows and talk shows and stuff, especially morning shows, and they always go "Can you cook?" I'm like "No, I'm terrible," but actually I'm really good, really good. Like, I'm obsessive about my cooking. I studied sauces for like a year and a half, and I refuse to let myself anything apart from real, kind of like- you know, I have like 6 [unknown] control every part of the temperature [unknown]. Why are we talking about [unknown] on Marie Claire? This is the most bizarre interview. How do you [unknown]. Why? Why? Why? First thing on my mind when I wake up from sleep, find magazines and newspapers that I never ever read. I just bought them [unknown] and it's all over my study just like collecting and kind of dangerous teetering towers of [unknown]. Although I've been trying to write a song about [unknown] I think it went through the ringer 'cause that [unknown] is not an easy one. I would love to collaborate with [unknown]. She's brilliant, just brilliant, brilliant. Snoopy is the best. I mean Snoopy still gives me that feeling like a warmth when I see those [unknown] character. He's like my- he represents to me what we [unknown] who represents for a lot of people in their childhood. [unknown] there's only one. It's got to be Fernando by ABBA [unknown] and it's only got one one word in the lyric. The rest of it you just kind of skip over and no one notices as long as you go Fernando.
