Follow the Project Runway judge and Marie Claire creative director as she uses her discerning eye to pick the perfect Coach gifts for everyone on her--and your--gift list.
The most phenomenal part of being an editor is that moment when you're like aha, that is inspiring. There is no real typical day. I might be meeting with a designer. I might be judging Project Runaway. In this business in particular, you have to always be curious. When I first moved to New York, there was something about Coach and New York. They were very synonymous. Getting that Coach bag made you feel like you had a piece of New York. When I'm editing for Marie Claire, I am looking for things that resonate, things that have staying power, but are still exciting. I've been doing this for so long. It's very easy to narrow down what feels fresh, what feels new. The biggest news this season for me is the clutch. It's all about color. Make a statement with color. Leopard skin is here to stay. It's leopard print or it's mixed skins. Fur is another story that is very big. It's just a very easy way to make anything glamorous. What I want to do with my readers is really empower women to know what works best for them and own it and have their own personal style and have the confidence to be like I don't really need to follow the trend. I'm gonna make the trend. Coach always observes the trend, but it never loses its authenticity. There is something about design that when it is simple and perfect endures through the decades and becomes a classic. And when you have that, you got it made.
