Health and fitness is clearly really important to Marie Claire readers, and many of them are members of the gym, may go running, may go hiking, may go canoeing, and we're always looking for new ways of making the gym, in particular, more interesting.

Having Nina Garcia at the magazine is really a great boost in terms of our fashion coverage, because not that she have a great eye for the really wonderful, high-end, beautiful design, but she understands how real women put their closet together. She's just completed her third book, and this is really about style on a budget, and it's says, "These are the items that you need always to have in your closet." and these are the things you can ask a season to make it feel really up-to-date, but you don't have to spend a fortune.

The Style Strategy is a book about how to shop smart, how to stay chic and how to make it last.

Nina's book is about style strategy; basically, how you can save money during these times in the shop, really a smart way to shop. It's all about making the most of what you have, and then investing in staples that you'll have forever.

She knows because she too has to get up in the morning. She has a young child. She has to pull herself together, and leave the house, and she doesn't have an hour and a half to do it.

Shopping has really, you know, changed. The way we've shopped has changed

and will continue to do so.

Right now, it's especially important to readers because everybody's wallets are pretty much empty at the moment, and the big trend right now is shopping your closet and there's great, great tips in that book.

So, this is a book to really make you think about having a plan, having a strategy. It's not at all about this impulse-buying anymore.

It's really thinking about the fact that women don't want to over commit financially to fashion all the time.

But it's really about investing on stuff that really will last you forever; not buying a bunch of trendy items that are cheap, because that ends up being expensive, and that stuffs adds up really quickly.

One of the joys of working with Nina is watching her work the same items of clothing in completely different ways. She has a very hair-down signature style.

You can clean out your closet. Get rid of the stuff that you haven't worn for years. And then reassess the stuff that you have that can work with maybe new item.

It's about how to choose the classic one should, "oh, the best skirt for you", "oh, the best pants for you". And she's very specific about the pieces you need to form the basis of your closet. So when you go and buy something new, you know where it fits in the closet that you got.

We look for several new workouts that gyms are doing to try and keep people interested. One of which is a re-book collaboration with Circus Soleil, which is incredible sort of gymnastics thing, which sound much more difficult than they actually are, the beginner can try them, but are very attractive ways of tightening up the core, and trying different sort of maneuvers, instead of just the regular weight lifting.

You really have the trapeze hanging from the ceiling, and it can actually really get your heart rate up, and it's a different way of looking at an aerobics class.

One of the other ones

we looked at with something called indoor boarding, which is a bit like a snow board or a skateboard without wheels. It's got like a cushion on, and it helps you again with the core. It helps you balance. You can do different things on it in the gym but it's a little bit different.

The great thing about it was that you're so focused on just staying on the board that you don't even realize you're just getting total body workout, and working like every muscle in your core and in your legs.

Indoor boarding is a balance trainer, and then what we try to incorporate with the class scenario is wearing weights to it. We do a lot of rotation to get the momentum of working our legs, balance and the whole twisting the hips and using the arms and shoulders.

This is really about changing it up, keeping it interesting, and giving you different skills, and developing different muscles in your body to give you an overall fitness.

What YogaWorks Slim does is it actually takes a lot of the principles from what you would get in a Vinyasa class or an Ashtanga class, and make it into more of a flowing class where you are getting your heart rate up, you are still getting the meditative effects of yoga but it becomes more of an exercise class than some typical yoga classes.

It's easy for somebody that come into a yoga work studio, and take any type of class and follow along.

So I think, one of-- I didn't answer the question. Once you get into it then you really get hooked, and you see the results not just in your body, but also having a peace of mind.

I think we're always constantly looking for something new to incorporate into our workouts. We don't wanna get bored. So, I think a lot of these classes, you can go to with friends and it doesn't feel like exercise. You can actually have fun at the classes, which is important.

We really look on exercise not as an end in itself, but as a commitment to healthy living, and also, for the psychology of it. It's about mental health and that's the reason to eat well, and look after yourself, and keep active. It's that actually, it helps your brain in the long run, feel happier.
