In Justin Timberlake's new book Hindsight: & All the Things I Can't See in Front of Me, Timberlake talks about how he and his wife of six years, Jessica Biel, first fell for each other.
As People reports, Timberlake and Biel initially bonded over their similar sense of humor, but it took awhile for them to get things going.
"When I met Jess, it was undeniable how beautiful she is. I made some sort of sarcastic comment, really dry. Nobody got it except her," Timberlake wrote. "She laughed, and I noticed, all of a sudden, and in the way where you wonder if a person’s like you, if they have a very dry, dark sense of humor, too."
Despite their instant connection, Timberlake didn't ask for Biel's number when they met, and before he saw her again at a show during his FutureSex/LoveSounds tour, Timberlake said that he had to summon some courage. "I had to psych myself up. I had to remind myself that I was me—giving myself a pep talk, shadow boxing with myself, rubbing my own shoulders," he wrote.
He finally got Biel's number that night and they started talking, although they weren't exclusive at first. "We were both still seeing other people, keeping ourselves safe from getting hurt, from really putting ourselves out there," he wrote. "It took a bit for both of us to admit to ourselves that we were really, really into each other."
The couple decided to be exclusive after spending a month together following Timberlake's return from a trip abroad. Timberlake and Biel got married in 2012, and they welcomed their son Silas in 2015.
