Katy Perry Could Be Dropping New Music on Friday

The singer has been throwing out hints on social media.

Update: Yep, this is happening:

Original story: Katy Perry wants you to mark your calendars for this Friday, February 10.

The singer just posted a new video on Instagram of a billboard that reads "Katy Perry" and the date "February 10" underneath. There are no other details on the sign, but there is a small Spotify logo in the bottom left corner. Does this mean she's dropping a new album on that date? Or maybe even a new single? Will it be a Spotify exclusive?

All she had to say about it in her caption was this: "NEW CLUE: FEB 10."

The image on the billboard is the same one she posted on Instagram late last night. "New life who dis" she captioned the shot, debuting her new platinum-blonde look and possibly ushering in a new phase of her career. The portrait could also easily double as an album cover...

It was announced today that Perry is performing at the Grammy Awards this Sunday, Feb. 12. Though the singer can put on a great live show (Super Bowl 2015, anyone?), her addition to the lineup was a bit surprising, since she hasn't released new music recently. However, if she does drop a project on Friday, she'll have fresh material to perform and promote two days later at the Grammys.

The last time Perry released an album was with Prism in 2013. This Friday could mark the end of a four-year wait.
