  • Justin Theroux shared a passionate post on Instagram encouraging people to adopt rescue dogs.
  • The actor tagged his ex, Jennifer Aniston, in the post's caption. Aniston recently joined Instagram and shared dogs with Theroux.
  • "Yep, now that you’re on here, your gonna get this a lot too ☺️," Theroux wrote.

Jennifer Aniston just experienced that inevitable moment when your ex contacts you on social media. On Thursday, Aniston's ex, Justin Theroux, took to Instagram to share a passionate post about a subject near and dear to his heart: Animal rescue.

"KUMA had a rough day...," the actor wrote, speaking of his dog in a caption along with a gallery of rescue pups that are currently looking for homes.

"We were working in Ventura and wouldn’t you know it? We just HAPPENED to be RIGHT NEXT to @vcanimalservices," he continued. "KUMA had a feeling there might be some amazing puppies in there SO, we went over to meet some of them... and the human SAINTS that take care of them."

Theroux went on to give shoutouts to a few specific doggos currently available for adoption at Ventura County Animal Services, "an open-admission, municipal, life-saving organization" that provides service to eight cities in Ventura County in Southern California. The group says it takes in 12,000 pets every year—which means a lot of animals are looking for their forever homes.

The actor and animal lover revealed that he paid all of the adoption fees for the dogs he highlighted in his post—Zumo, Shotti, a nameless pup he refers to as "No Name," and Stella—to ease the adoption process for anyone who wants to take them home.

"KUMA used to be JUST like them...without a forever home," Theroux wrote. "SO!!! She DEMANDED that we do something! At the very least, she made sure it was easy to adopt them....ALL of their adoption fees have been paid... Now ALL they need is an amazing Human who is committed to taking care of them. It sounds like a lot, but you’ll soon see... once rescued, they take care of you. So if you’re in the Ventura area... ZUMO, SHOTTI, NO NAME, and STELLA would love a visit... and of course... more than anything, would love to take care of you."

For good measure (and maximum exposure), Theroux tagged his friend and fellow animal lover, Selena Gomez, and his newly-on-Instagram ex, Aniston.

"Sorry Selena, you know the drill," he wrote after the tagged shoutout to the "Lose You to Love Me" singer.

Aniston also got a personalized shout out after her caption tag. "Yep, now that you’re on here, your gonna get this a lot too ☺️)," Theroux wrote.

Although Aniston hasn't responded to the call out, E! News reports that the actress did like Theroux's post—so at least there's that. Aniston and Theroux started dating in May 2011. They wed in 2015 and announced their separation in 2017. The couple shared several dogs together, including the late Dolly, who they laid to rest in July.
