Hilary Duff Apologizes for Pilgrim Halloween Costume After Online Backlash

For reasons that remain a mystery, Hilary Duff and her boyfriend Jason Walsh chose to go with ye olde "Pilgrim and Native American" costume for Halloween, which was obviously a bad call—just ask Chris Hemsworth.

While Duff dressed as a "sexy pilgrim," Walsh opted for a costume that inarguably promotes stereotypes and boils an entire culture down to one (pretty inaccurate) look. Naturally, the internet was vocal about its collective concerns:

The good news is that Duff apologized unequivocally via Twitter:

It's up to indigenous communities whether or not to accept said apology, but it's admirable that Duff issued one so swiftly, and without any "ifs, ands, or buts."
