Former first lady Michelle Obama has revealed the release date for her highly-anticipated memoir. The book, Becoming, will be released on November 13, 2018.
"Writing BECOMING has been a deeply personal experience," Obama wrote in an Instagram post announcing the news. "It has allowed me, for the very first time, the space to honestly reflect on the unexpected trajectory of my life. In this book, I talk about my roots and how a little girl from the South Side of Chicago found her voice and developed the strength to use it to empower others. I hope my journey inspires readers to find the courage to become whoever they aspire to be. I can't wait to share my story."
Becoming will be published in 24 languages around the world and Obama will head out on a U.S. and international book tour to support the memoir (although dates won't be announced until closer to the release).
In Becoming, Obama reflects on the experiences that shaped her, beginning with her childhood on the South Side of Chicago to her time a FLOTUS and everything in between. The book promises unflinching honesty and an in-depth look into Obama's triumphs and disappointments (which means she might also discuss the results of the 2016 election in the book).
According to Penguin, the company plans to donate one million books in the Obama family’s name to First Book, and Open eBooks, which promote equal access to education by providing books and learning materials to children in need.
