May we present you with your it's-almost-the-weekend treat: Game Of Thrones has made public the audition tapes that led to their biggest stars winning their roles.
Whether it's Rory McCann's Hound losing his temper with an invisible Sansa, Tormund Giantsbane munching on a carrot, or a really, really young Maisie Williams laying down some anti-Lannister truths, the tapes are just plain fascinating.
1. Sophie Turner (Sansa) and Maisie Williams (Arya): Two tapes spliced together to make one conversation (from the first season, when the two sisters are traveling to Kings Landing in the Queen's wheelhouse, by the way). They are extremely young.
2. Rory McCann (The Hound): One very angry younger brother.
3. HBO audition special: A compilation featuring Gwendoline Christie (Brienne), Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei), Rose Leslie (Ygritte), Tom Wlaschiha (Jaqen H'ghar), Ben Crompton (Dolorous Edd), Pedro Pascal (Oberyn Martell), Kristofer Hivju (Tormund Giantsbane), Natalie Dormer (Margaery), Liam Cunningham (Ser Davos), Carice Van Houten (Melisandre), and Michiel Huisman (Daario).
4. Milton Yerolemou (Syrio Forel): Arya's much-missed "dancing master," the former First Sword to the Sealord of Braavos, puts a casting director through his paces.
