The Second Season of 'Making a Murderer' Will Be Released Later This Year

2017 is looking up.

We knew there was going to be a second season of Making a Murderer—we just didn't know *when* Steven Avery was going to come back into our lives.

Thankfully, Netflix just gave us a beacon of hope in these dark times: the second season of the popular true crime series is set to arrive later this year.

Speaking to USA Today, Cindy Holland, Netflix's VP for original content, explained, "The story is still ongoing, so you will see new episodes coming sometime this year as this story continues to unfold."

She did concede, "We don't know when for sure new episodes will be coming." Apparently, the documentary makers Moira Demos and Laura Ricciardi are keeping their cards close to their chest in terms of details.

Holland continued, "Laura and Moira are [in Manitowoc] shooting regularly and working on what the right story is to tell in the next set, so we're deferring to them on when it will be ready."

"Very few people inside of Netflix actually know the details of what we're getting because we're wanting to keep it really under wraps and it is an ongoing case so we're trying to be sensitive to that," she added.

Counting down the days until our lives revolve around Making a Murderer once again.
