The very best wardrobe is one stocked with pieces that you can pull out, pull on, and, within minutes, be ready to walk out the door. True for everyone, but especially vital for those with limited closet space.
The key is to find pieces versatile enough that they can be worn with multiple items without feeling boring—because sometimes, that one thing you need is buried deep, deep in the laundry bin. And since separating your closet into “work” and “play” is an outdated way to approach style, each item should work for both.
Here, three of spring's most clutch buys and two ways to style them.
A Floral Shirt
Pretty floral prints play just as nicely on a Monday as they do on a Saturday. Inject some energy into your work wardrobe by mixing in a colorful blouse; wear it with a pencil skirt or trousers, and keep everything else professional-polished.

Dress it down for the weekend by pairing with jeans (we love white for the warmer months). If you're tired of your basic leather sandal, look for something like a rhinestone buckle to jazz it up; then, counterbalance the bold shirt with a simple tote.

A Pastel Blazer
A forever office staple, the blazer's newest iteration is done in colors other than yawn-inducing black or navy. We love powdery pastels for spring (and Macy’s The Edit agrees). When styling for the office, keep it from feeling fantastical by pairing with neutrals.

When you’re off-duty, pair the blazer with laidback items to dress it down. We love the idea of wearing with a floral dress and flat leather sandals. A crossbody bag is the ideal accessory for a day of errands or shopping.
A Colorblock Shirt
Colorblock styles are the easiest way to add some pigment in a more conservative office environment. Make it work by letting the pop of color be the only bright spot amongst other darks. We love the modern look of wearing the above style with wide-leg pants and flats.

Conversely, wearing colorblock on the weekend should be all about turning up the shade volume. Doubling down on the main color works, but we also love the shock of adding a new hue. Sneakers are a cool-girl finish, and a crossbody works no matter what the day holds.
