‘Tis the season for color. Do you feel as though you live in sneakers but can’t justify buying another pair of the same bright white kicks? This is the place for you.

If bleached-out sporty sneaks were the gateway to your best athleisure style, it’s time to up the ante with a little more personality. This fall, instead of slipping into a pair of sneakers that quietly completes your look, consider a colorful style that might even become the main event.

It could be that you’re leaning into the balletcore trend, searching for a Mary Jane that marries the performance of running shoes with the feminine silhouette of your childhood ballet slippers. Or perhaps you’re leaning into a retro pop of color by way of the Adidas Gazelle or Nike Cortez. If sneakers aren’t really your thing, you might even opt for the soft pastel hue of a satin skimmer that only tiptoes on the line between loafer and athletic footwear.

From bright reds and greens to more understated navies and powder pinks, and from $60 Converse All Stars to splurge-worthy designer pairs, shop the coolest colorful sneakers I’m eyeing right now for when you already own too many white pairs to rationalize buying another.

I bought these sneakers a few months ago and love that they hit all the marks: they’re a great color, classic design, just sporty enough, and retail for under $150.

Coming from someone who largely only wears black, white, and navy, I’ve found myself gravitating towards pink hues as of late. These sneakers caught my eye with the perfect saturated, yet understated tone of rose.

If you’re going to splurge, do it on something that will stand the test of time. While maroon and tan aren’t classic white, they also aren’t colors you’re quickly going to be exhausted of. And the sporty, yet not-quite-athletic style of sneaker is also one that will stay in rotation long after the others have gone.

For those looking for a sneaker to take to a workout class, wear at the gym, or slip into before a run, look to On. I love the sophisticated navy tone that fully envelops everything from the shoe to the laces and even the sole.

Childhood favorites, but make them sporty. Loeffler Randall took the Mary Jane silhouette and added a heavy rubber sole that makes them feel athletic inspired without — of course — fit to actually work out in.

After the mesh trend infiltrated everything from sandals to ballet flats, the sheer weave took on sneakers. Jacquemus used the barely-there material for these track-style sneakers, making them look nearly invisible once you slip them onto your feet.

Though these boast a thin rubber sole allowing them to proudly stand in the “sneaker” category, I love that they feel even more like jazz shoes than they do athletic kicks. As such, they walk the line between ultra-feminine balletcore and more activewear styles with ease.

Balletcore has taken over the athleisure marketplace, with brands and clambering to snag the next big thing in terms of dancer-inspired pieces. Sneakers have been at the forefront when it comes to inspired design, and Miu Miu has used that top strap style to craft a sneaker that feels edgy, sporty, and truly pretty — all at the same time.

For those looking for an even more bold look than a bright color, slip into this pair of leopard-printed Adidas sneakers. In fact, head-turning as the print might be, it’s often treated as a neutral which would — perhaps — make these sneakers the most easily-wearable pair you own.

If you can imagine Marie Antoinette wearing sneakers under her hoop-skirted gowns, they would be these. I’m obsessed with the floral silk pattern that, at first, looks fit for a party…until your double-take reminds you of their athleisure roots.

Metallic isn’t for the faint of heart but, at the same time, it feels more approachable than fire engine red or bright Kelly green. This fall, I’m dipping my toe into the trend (quite literally) by balancing out the light-catching sheen with a classic skimmer silhouette.
