The Queen has paid a visit to the Game of Thrones set—but frustrated fans of the fantasy drama by failing to sit on the famed Iron Throne.

Her Majesty took a tour of the Belfast set as part of a tour of Northern Ireland, and set Twitter ablaze as she approached the most famous seat in the Seven Kingdoms.

Windsor is coming—the Queen approaches the Iron Throne...

Will she actually sit on it? On a day where Kit Harington is smiling, anything is possible.

Fans were gripped by the Sky News live feed—would Elizabeth II dare to take up that poisoned chalice and plant herself on the throne?

It even looked as if cast member Lena Headey—on-screen Queen, Cersei Lannister—was encouraging her Maj to take a seat.

But then—crushingly—it didn't happen. No hilarious memes for you, internet.

Awkward. It's fair to say, some fans on Twitter didn't take the snub well.

But Game of Thrones aficionados never say die—a quick fiddle on Photoshop gave us the moment we'd all been waiting for. Huzzah!
