Big Girl in a Skinny World: Sheer Clothing Picks
Everywhere you turn lately, you cant seem to avoid catching a glimpse of unexpected skin or underthing! Nearly every celeb, socialite, and editor has been photographed in a fashionably skin- or lingerie-bearing number. While I wont be exposing my bra or rocking a sheer shirt anytime soon, I am loving this subtly sexy stylewhen done right, its anything but skanky. My solution to wearing this trend in a plus-size friendly manner: Find pieces that have sheer elements or touches of lace. No need to bare it all. But if you do find a totally sheer top that works, simply layer it with a tank under. Youll achieve the same effect in a more modest way.
Ive shopped around for this boudoir-inspired look and came up with a few options that work for a curvy girl. One of my favorite iterations: New York and Companys Sheer Lace Tank. It comes in black, taupe, and gray and is perfect for layering with a tank and pairing with a skirt, skinny jeans, trousers, or a blazer. Another great option is Faith 21s Mesh back tunic. This lightweight tunic has a mesh-exposed upper back and shoulder. It has just enough edge and sex appeal without being overtly sheer. Zac Posens new collection for Target has a trendy cardigan complete with sheer sleeves. This is the perfect layering option for day or night.
Do you have any trends you want to wear, but dont know how? Let me know. Ill be happy to find a way!
