Project Runway!
What I love about Project Runway is the way it deconstructs how close on a top fashion comes about and that's very close to my class heart.
We are thrilled to be a part of Project Runway and the official magazine sponsor because A, it's a fantastic show. B, Nina Garcia, our fashion director is a permanent judge. But C, it's a great reality show and that it takes a bunch of really talented people and shows them working hard to produce a really great finish product.
We are here to celebrate the return of Project Runway and to view tonight's episode. And it's sort of like a mini reunion. I think it's so exciting.
It's really fun to kind of get out and celebrate a little bit.
I'm excited. I'm- This is a fun episode for all of us.
This is amazing.
What I love about Project Runway is the way it deconstructs how clothes are made, how fashion comes about and that's very close to Marie Claire's heart and we love watching how fashion comes together.
This season, they have been so, so talented. So, I was really- I'm really privileged, you know.
Uh-hmm.
To be part of the experience [unknown].
I loved it. I mean, I wouldn't exchange this for the world, you know.
It was fantastic. It was really good to work with the designers. You know, they're talented, they're great and it was fun to do it in LA.
It's fascinating, of course, watching young designers really striving to show their authentic voice. Tim Gunn's genius mentoring skills as people under pressure and under deadlines are striving to do their best. And, of course, Michael Kors, very clever, insightful remarks that I think keeps the designers true to what their vision is. And it's a brilliant prize, that show. We loved him going on [unknown] day. Really adds something to it. And I think, once again, sometimes when you pick up a dress or an item floating in the store, the incredible amount of effort and work that's gone into it.
Thank you for coming. It's my job to welcome you all. My [unknown]. I'm an editor of Marie Claire and we are thrilled to be the designer team's sponsors for Project Runway.
CEO of [unknown], please give it up for Andrea Wong.
[unknown] thank you and thank you everyone at Marie Claire. I also want to specifically thank Kathy [unknown] and everyone at Hirsch for hosting this wonderful evening. First of all, we have an incredible team on Project Runway both in front of and behind the scenes. It starts with Nina Garcia and Tim being [unknown].
[unknown] on the show.
I'm such a fan of Project Runway. I love it.
One of the most popular features in the magazine is called Beauty Snoop and it's where we go and grab the beauty bag of a famous celebrity and try and get advice really from them. And so, for our beauty issue in October, we asked five people and we do it and enlarge Beauty Snoop.
We decided to go into the makeup bags and the train cases of our favorite stylists to really get the scoop on what insiders are using. [unknown] the people that are creating the looks that are on the celebrities that we always cover.
We talked to Tina Turnbow, who's the makeup artist to talk about what she travels with and how those products translate for her clients as well as for herself.
I'm either doing early, early morning like the Today Show, getting up at five or evening events when they go out to the red carpet or a premier.
She's always on the go. She needs to carry all of her makeup with her but what are sort of the essential things.
Really great skin care. I love Baby Wipes by Seventh Generation. I feel like it's the most gentle and efficient way of getting makeup off. You know, it has a great tip which is that you should use a beige coat or actually like a fleshy color on the inside of your eye to make it fresh and bright.
Great concealer, I love Benefit Erase Paste. I have a MAC Palette which has beautiful colors- Jewel tones and vibrant colors and then I have another palette that I also keep all my earthy kind of natural colors.
One of the people I interviewed was Brooke Siler who's a pilates expert based in New York. She was trained by one of Joseph Pilates' protegees.
So, usually throughout the day, I'm doing many different things. So, I run from being a mom, down to my studio. I'm a teacher. Then, I may be off to do something in the press. And so, I really do have to pack a large bag filled with just anything that I might need. I love Mineral Makeup by Suki. It's just my new favorite type of makeup. Lip gloss, I use from Bigelows. I do like to carry a face spritz with me, something to help keep- It's just gonna help make me feel cleaner.
We asked Andy Lecompte, the hairstylist-
Andy Lecompte? When I interviewed him, it was actually on the tour with Madonna. Mary [unknown] who has beauty boutique in LA. We have Natalia Vodianova talk about her travel kit and what she brings with her on an airplane.
She was always jet-setting around the world from amazing gig to Amazing Race.
And Natalia which is all about how to travel and keep comfortable and, you know, as a top model, she's flying from country to country. She may lose a night's sleep. She has to get off the other end and look fabulous ready for a photo shoot- Everything that really makes her comfortable in travel. You really feel like you're getting real advice. It's not just some company saying, [unknown] because it will make you feel better. It's tried and tested by people who know what they're talking about.
If someone already has dry skin, the change in weather going from warmer to colder can exacerbate the dryness. So, I recommend to people to change their bathing and moisturizing habits as we get into the colder months- Short, warm showers. Try to eliminate long baths or if you have to just do one long bath a week. Give yourself a treat. Use a product that says it's moisturizing for dry skin. Sometimes, lotions are not just enough for moisturizing the skin. So when you get into the shower, use a moisturizing body wash to give you that extra plus at moisturizing your skin. When you come out of the shower, apply the moisturizer on damp skin. This is very, very [unknown]. There's some wonderful moisturizing washes that you can use in the shower that are balanced in such a way so that it doesn't strip or extract the moisture. The new product by dove is very, very effective. It has a botanical ingredient which is gentle and it deeply moisturizes so that your skin is well moisturized and it feels healthy. What I like about the Dove Nutrient Products is, first all and most importantly, they work. They're cosmetically elegant when you use them on the skin. They moisturize. They're well tolerated across the board by all skin types. Dove is a respected name and they work.
Ever worn your clothes in the shower? If you're using other moisturizing body washes, you might as well be. You see, there are moisturizers sits on top of skin almost as if you're wearing it. Only New Dove Deep Moisture has Nutrium Moisture, a breakthrough formula with natural moisturizers that can nourish deep down. It's the most effective natural nourishment ever. New Dove Deep Moisture with Nutrium Moisture, superior natural nourishment for your skin.
I did a collaboration for this spring with one of my best friends that I grew up with, Sashana Cruz, and so we just launched that for spring summer and [unknown] and it was- Went really well and it was a lot of great like kind of Bohemian, little ditsy florals and, know, because nice florals are little more Bohemian [unknown] trims and we're gonna be- And we're gonna do a new collection coming up for this coming spring. So, it's always fun to be up to work with one of your best friends and, you know, we get to design together.
