Episode 36: The Masthead with Marie Claire Video
Fashion world's Vena Cava and the Sunday blues.
Yves Saint Laurent just passed away recently. I mean he was a very influential designer. He definitely created a lot of iconic looks so we decided to do a tribute to him and basically shoot some of his pieces but also pieces that other designers had done that were inspired by him.
His impacts throughout his carrier on the fashion industry was extraordinary. I mean he really started so many ways that women dress.
I looked at all of his work. I am very much familiar with his work but I just wanted to get more of an idea insight. And I had to like to just step away from that and just create something which would be my own, strong compositioning and just something very modern.
His just influence inspired every single trend basically that happened in the last couple of years, be it Safari, Animal prints, paws, feathers, the tuxedo, I mean just you name it. It's amazing like how much he has done for the world of fashion.
Yeah, keep doing your thing.
We're looking at the clothes that will inspired by Yves Saint Laurent but channeled through other designers. So if it's Michael Kors or Club Monaco, everyone this season has their own take on the YSL trends and we really put the trends together for you and then we put all the waves that you can wear a little bit of YSL.
We shot a lot of different designers' takes on his clothes and then we super impose quotes that he had, you know, given throughout the years about certain collections, about how women should dress or about fashion. So it was sort of a retrospective but not only with his own design.
What struck me was the way that he bridged masculinity and that elegance. The way that he brought thought those 2 components together was just amazing.
It's good to invest in classic pieces or have your own classic style, your own classic look that can carry over through the season. So that was something that YSL did. He sort of changed those a little bit every season but it was something that you could definitely tell what's his.
