I wouldn't exactly call myself a jet-setter—I'm a homebody in the truest sense of the word. But I am serious about my skincare, and I'm not letting travel get in the way of that. Unfortunately, that can be quite the challenge, given icky plane air, unfamiliar climates, and the general stress of getting through TSA. That's why I've created the ultimate go bag of skincare travel essentials—pared back enough that I'm not lugging multiple cosmetic bags around, but comprehensive enough to keep my skin happy and healthy.

Peak in any suitcase, and you're just about guaranteed to find these 10 pint-sized lifesavers, plus my beloved dermatologist prescriptions. Together, they make up the perfect travel routine to keep skin in check, no matter where in the world I find myself. Best of all, they're all under 3.4 ounces, meaning you can carry an entire skincare routine on board your flight—no checking necessary. Ahead, my favorite carry-on skincare products for a trouble-free face, because why let a breakout ruin your hard-earned PTO?

    Multi-Use Cleansers That Won't Irritate

When traveling, I rely on hard-hitting players that have multiple uses—if a product is taking up precious space in my pouch, it's got to prove itself. This can be a bit difficult for cleansers, given they have a fairly singular purpose: to cleanse. Which is why I go for the best of the best in this category—it has to be effective, gentle, and easy to use.

Bioderma Sensibio H2o, Micellar Water, Travel Size Makeup Remover Cleanser, Gentle for Skin, Fragrance-Free & Alcohol-Free, Gentle Face Cleanser for Sensitive Skin, 3.4 Fl Oz

    Bioderma
Sensibio H2o, Micellar Water, Travel Size
    $7
    SHOP NOW

I barely leave the house without my trusty bottle of micellar water. I use it in the morning instead of a full cleanse, during my makeup routine to clean up any fallout, and in the evening to remove any lingering makeup or SPF. Most hotels offer cotton pads in bathrooms, so you don't even need to bring your own (though I do, just to be safe!). It gently cleanses the skin without irritating or exacerbating sensitivities, and is a million times better for your skin than those pesky makeup wipes.

    Prequel
    Mini Skin Gleanser Cleanser
    $5
    SHOP NOW

A two-in-one face and body cleanser, Prequel's unique cleanser is gentle and humectant-rich, rehydrating skin after the havoc of a long-haul plane ride. It's such an effective cleanser that it can even be used to remove makeup—so technically, it's a three-in-one. Formulated with arginine, glycerin, oat extract, inulin, and aloe, the cleanser soothes and comforts skin with every wash.

Hydrating Toners and Essences for Lightweight Moisture

I know, I know, toners and essences aren't technically necessary in a skincare routine. But I've found them to be among the most versatile skincare categories, thanks to their ultra-lightweight texture and super boost of hydration. Whether under makeup or on its own, a hydrating toner (or essence!) is a non-negotiable for me, especially when my skin's taking the toll of travel and sleep deprivation.

Mini Glazing Milk Ceramide Facial Essence

    Rhode
Mini Glazing Milk Ceramide Facial Essence
    $20
    SHOP NOW

With a heavier milky texture, Rhode's Glazing Milk is nutrient-rich and deeply hydrating. It offers barrier support thanks to a ceramide trio, while a mineral complex of magnesium, zinc, and copper helps defend against free radicals. It sinks into the skin like a dream, and I swear my face eats this stuff up. It also plays nicely with sensitive skin—it even has the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance.

Mini Cream Skin Milky Toner Mist With Ceramides and Peptides

    Laneige
Mini Cream Skin Milky Toner Mist
    $12
    SHOP NOW

Still milky but lighter than the Rhode formula, Laneige's Cream Skin Toner Mist gives you all the benefits of a cream with the lightweight texture of a liquid toner. Ceramides and peptides provide deep hydration, while white leaf tea works to soothe skin with its amino acids. It reinforces the skin barrier and layers under makeup and serums like a dream.

    Serums That Make Skin Glow

If I'm away for under a week, I prefer to do my exfoliation pre-flight at home and focus on simple hydration and barrier support while traveling. This keeps breakouts and irritation to a minimum while maximizing the glow factor. And I try to limit myself to one serum per routine (plus any prescription skin-care products from my dermatologist)—one for the day and one for the evening. All this to say, I need two seriously hard-working serums that keep my skin in tip-top shape, even when facing that gross plane air.

Mini Great Skin Instant Glow Serum

    Merit
Mini Great Skin Instant Glow Serum
    $19
    SHOP NOW

Merit's bi-phase serum is somehow incredibly lightweight while leaving a noticeable glow. It utilizes a hyaluronic acid complex that targets multiple layers of the skin to lock in hydration, cacao seed extract to stimulate blood flow and plump the skin, and niacinamide to gently refine texture and brighten the skin. The result is the perfect base for makeup—skin is visibly hydrated, smooth, and perfectly prepped.

    Mini Intense Replenishing Serum

    Dr. Loretta
    Mini Intense Replenishing Serum
    $28
    SHOP NOW

The name of this product says it all—it delivers a hefty dose of intense replenishment. With an almost oil-like texture, it's deeply hydrating and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also protects skin against free radical damage thanks to a heaping dose of antioxidants. It instantly soothes the skin upon application and sinks in like a dream.

    Mini Moisturizers With Major Results

I like my moisturizers like I like my milkshakes: thick and creamy. Most of all, I want it to be easy—no potential for irritation, no little jar I have to dig my fingers into, and definitely no sticky residue feeling. It's a surprisingly tall order to fill, especially finding a mini moisturizer that checks all the boxes and actually has a substantial amount of product. Luckily, I've found a few diamonds in the rough that make the cut.

Mini Instant Angel Lipid & Peptide-Rich Moisturizer + Barrier Repair

    Dieux
Mini Instant Angel Lipid & Peptide-Rich Moisturizer + Barrier Repair
    $25
    SHOP NOW

Dieux's Instant Angel is a forever favorite of mine, thanks to its barrier-replenishing, radiance-boosting, quick-to-absorb formula. With a blend of lipids, ceramides, urea, hyaluronic acid, and peptides, it does everything you want a moisturizer to do without any potential for irritation. Best of all, it's as perfect under makeup as it is at the end of my night routine.

Mini Sos Daily Barrier Recovery Cream

    Tower28
Mini SOS Daily Barrier Recovery Cream
    $14
    SHOP NOW

If you're using a Tower28 product, you're nearly guaranteed not to experience a reaction or irritation. After all, its products are formulated with the most sensitive skin in mind. Calming allantoin—plus hyaluronic acid and ceramides—make the formula soothing, barrier-repairing, and intensely hydrated. With a cushion-y soft texture, the cream is fast-absorbing and never stings compromised skin.

    SPFs to Protect

If you think I'm traveling without a full arsenal of sunscreen products, you're simply mistaken. I refuse to forgo sun protection—even the sparsest packing job will include at least three SPF options. But on the road, great sun coverage isn't enough for me. I like my sunscreens multifunctional, making my life easier, so I look forward to wearing them wherever in the world I might be.

    Dew-Glow Moisturizer Spf 50 - 0.7 Oz

    Naturium
    Dew-Glow Moisturizer Spf 50
    $13
    SHOP NOW

Naturium's Dew Glow provides such a dewy, radiant finish that it takes the job of an SPF, moisturizer, and glow drops in one fell swoop. It features chemical sunscreen filters for a broad-spectrum SPF of 50 PA+++, while leaving skin looking bouncy, moisturized, and healthy. It saves space in your vanity case and keeps skin safe from the sun—what more could you ask for?

Mini Dreambeam Silicone-Free Mineral Sunscreen Spf 40 With Ceramides and Peptides - Dreambeam Sunlit

    Kosas
Mini Dreambeam Silicone-Free Mineral Sunscreen Spf 40 With Ceramides and Peptides
    $22
    SHOP NOW

Kosas' mineral sunscreen formula comes in two shades—a peachy-pink hue that helps to neutralize zinc oxide's natural white color, and a soft golden hue for a warm vacation glow. In other words, you've got your sunscreen and your makeup base covered. It moisturizes and subtly blurs the skin, leaving behind a protective layer with just a hint of coverage. It layers under makeup like a dream and easily rubs into the skin for foolproof coverage.
