Always trust model and general relatable human, mom-of-two Chrissy Teigen, to always share the intimate information that you didn’t realize you needed to know until this very moment. Having previously spoken candidly and admirably about her experiences with postpartum depression in her first pregnancy, Chrissy has revealed her own secret to helping avoid the disorder the second time around.
Appearing on CBS Sunday Morning’s 40th anniversary special, set to air in full on Friday evening, the Lip Sync Battle host credited an unconventional answer to keeping postpartum depression at bay following the arrival of her son, Miles Theodore: She ate her placenta.
After hearing her delicious secret, host Rita Braver told her: "I don't think I can have you eating your placenta on primetime,” to which Chrissy was surprised."Really? That's not a normal thing?” she joked. “I'm in L.A., it's very normal. They grill it here! You can try some of mine after.”

Earlier this year, Chrissy opened up to Glamour in an op-ed bout her struggle with postpartum depression, thought to affect at least one in five new moms, in the months following Luna's birth.
I couldn’t figure out why I was so unhappy. I blamed it on being tired and possibly growing out of the role: “Maybe I’m just not a goofy person anymore. Maybe I’m just supposed to be a mom.”
I also just didn’t think it could happen to me. I have a great life. I have all the help I could need: John, my mother (who lives with us), a nanny. But postpartum does not discriminate. I couldn’t control it. And that’s part of the reason it took me so long to speak up: I felt selfish, icky, and weird saying aloud that I’m struggling. Sometimes I still do.
Teigen took antidepressants and leaned on husband John while battling postpartum depression, and told Braver that talking about the condition on social media helped. “I think they deserved to know,” she said of her fans “I don’t know, is that so weird?”

During a recent podcast interview, husband John admitted that he had been worried about Teigen in the aftermath of Miles' birth, too. "I think Chrissy is feeling better than she did after the first baby," he explained on The Dan Wootten Interview. "It’s always a concern when you go through it the first time that it might happen again."
The good news? Teigen seems to be feeling better this time around.
