Rising like a normcore Phoenix from the ashes.

Fact: Barb is the best part of Netflix's Stranger Things (opens in new tab) and anyone who thinks otherwise is incorrect. Tragically, everyone's favorite normcore hero met her untimely demise at the hands of The Upside Down, but rejoice! Shannon Purser has been cast (opens in new tab) in the CW's Archie-inspired series, Riverdale.

The fan-favorite will play Ethel Muggs for a three-episode minimum arc, the boy-obsessed high schooler who has a crush on Jughead in the comics. And instead of being an outsider à la Barb, Ethel is pals with Bettie and Veronica. She even helps them take down Archie's rival.

No word yet as to whether or not she'll be wearing high waisted jeans, but our feelings on this casting choice are as follows: Um, yes please/get it Shannon/Barb for President.

^Shannon serving peak Barb vibes on Stranger Things. The fact that she's the only blurry character in this photo really speaks to her life story, BTW.

The Riverdale trailer isn't available to embed, but you can watch it here (opens in new tab), and it's scary AF. Think Pretty Little Liars meets Gossip Girl meets, um, Archie, apparently.
