How to Wear Pajamas Outside the House
For pretty much every occasion.
First there's the feeling of dread when your alarm goes off. Then the Ugh what do I wear today? hits. But the morning doesn't have to be stressful. What if I told you that you don't actually have to change out of your pajamas? Yes, you can literally wear pajamas all day, everyday. “Pajama dressing” as us fashion folk call it, is chic and totally acceptable. Of course like any trend, there are limitations (no you cannot go to work in your boyfriend’s decade-old flannel PJ pants). But a silky slip paired with a sweater…hell yeah you can! From two-piece sets to kimonos and silky slips, there is a “PJ for the day” for everyone. No need to thank us, just shop our picks below. Cozy girls unite!
1. Full Pajama Look
Leave it to super model Gigi Hadid to make literal pajamas look so chic. The full PJ look can be a little intimidating so we broke it down for you: Wear a lacy bralette underneath to keep the look sexy and throw on a pair of heeled booties to dress it up. Top it off with some mirrored cat eye sunglasses and you are super model–approved.
Shop the pieces: 1. Sleepy Jones Pajama Set, $198; 2. Everlane Booties, $225; 3. SAVAGEXFENTY Bralette, $10; 4. Le Specs Sunglasses, $83.30
2. Pretty In Pink PJs
This look screams date night vibes. The lacy slip is simple and sexy. The head-to-toe pink is extremely feminine, but mixing different hues gives it a bit of an edge. Wear a bold lip and your date will fall at your feet.
Shop the pieces: 1. La Perla Slip Dress, $669; 2. Frame Velvet Blazer, $575; 3. Zara Mid-Heel Slides, $70; 4. Jennifer Fisher Mini Samira Hoops, $295; 5. Yves Saint Laurent Matte Pink Lipstick, $39
3. The On-the-Go Slip Dress
This look is for the woman with places to be. The combination of slip dress and sweater tied on top is a foolproof outfit formula that you will want to wear over and over. Jazz it up with some chic accessories and a statement boot and you're out the door looking 100.
Shop the pieces: 1. Olivia Von Halle Slip Dress, $390; 2. Michael Michael Kors Sweater, $155; 3. Bottega Veneta Pouch, $2,700; 4. Paris Texas Knee-high boots, $795; 5. Gucci oversized square aviators, $480

4. Smart Slip Dressing
A look so simple yet so perfect. Start with a basic white slip dress and throw a sharp pinstripe blazer on top—it instantly elevates the look. Finish with some downtown girl sneakers, a chic little saddle bag, and yellow aviators for a touch of flair.
Shop the pieces: 1. RAEY Slip dress, $190; 2. Alexander McQueen pinstripe blazer, $2,245; 3. Nike Air Force 1 Low, $90; 4. Dior Saddle Bag, $3,350; 5. Gucci Oversized Metal Aviators, $435
5. From Bed to BAM!
This is not your grandma's nightgown. Influencer Bettina Looney makes this nightie-and-robe-combo look so effortless, like pajamas were always meant to be worn out and about. Throw on a pair of heeled mules and hoops to dress it up and you're ready to turn heads.
Shop the pieces: 1. Bernadette Silk Wrap, $1,170; 2. Bernadette Midi Dress, $795; 3. Jennifer Fisher Lily Hoops, $425; 4. Manolo Blahnik Suede Mules, $672; 5. & Other Stories Pearl Clutch Bag, $69
6. Rock a Robe
Freshen up your jeans and T with a silky robe, as seen on one of Milano's coolest Gilda Ambrosio. A robe over top of casual everyday wear and secured with a belt bag is the perfect way to incorporate "pajama dressing" into your aesthetic without going overboard.
Shop the pieces: 1. Carine Gilson Silk-Satin Robe, $818; 2. RE/DONE Ribbed Tank, $75; 3. RE/DONE High-Rise Jeans, $258; 4. The Row Kitten-Heel Mules, $795; 5. Chanel Waist Bag, $3,300
