Friends! Longtime Self Checkout readers know I don’t have very many hard and fast fashion rules. You want to wear white pants all year round? Be my guest. Mini skirts after 40? Hell yeah! Dead set on creating a capsule wardrobe? Couldn’t be me, but if you like it, I love it!
The one thing I will never, ever understand, though, is wearing flip-flops in New York City. Even if they are The Row (or even The Row dupes!) I can’t get into having my bare feet that close to these dirty, dirty streets. I feel so exposed! And not in a good way. If you happen to agree, here are four other types of sandals and sneakers we can wear instead.
CHUNKY SLIDES
Great for commuting or clocking step after step on weekend adventures.
MOM (OR DAD) SANDALS
Functional, but still very cute.
BALLERINA SNEAKERS
My personal favorite: a sleek ballet sneaker that you can wear with pretty much anything.
FISHERMAN SANDALS
Fisherman sandals! Another go-to style that I’ve relied on for years and years.
