The Wonders of C. Wonder

The Wonders of C. Wonder

Chris Burch’s latest venture, C. Wonder, finally opened its lacquered, electric green doors on Saturday in Soho. The event was a total party with music, flowers, a DJ, giveaways, celebrity appearances and over 3,000 guests. Here, some of the best parts of the shindig:

The Crowd: Brooke Shields, Elisabeth Rohm, and Kelly Rutherford all made scheduled appearances. And Kelly Ripa, whose SoHo loft overlooks the new outpost, made a surprise visit (with her mother-in-law!), running across the street in such a hurry she forgot to put down a block of cheese she’d been using to cook.

The Hosts: The C. Wonder team brought in some of style community’s top bloggers for the event—the girls of Coco+Kelley, Song of Style, and Sugarlaws—to model the clothes and offer fashion advice.

The Kentucky Connection: C. Wonder did a collaboration with Kentucky retailer Elva Fields, whose vintage-inspired pieces are often one-of-a-kind and far outside C. Wonder’s price point. I met the designer Emily Maynard, whose Southern charm was so contagious I found myself sharing in her delight as Elva Fields bangles and beetle earrings literally flew off the shelves.

The Goods: I scooped up enough décor to lacquer up my entire new apartment (nice timing, Mr. Burch), but for the crowd the hits were elsewhere. Visitors mined the jewelry room (Brooke Shields and the Kellys Ripa and Rutherford all snagged bracelets at the DIY Charm Bar), swamped the attendants at the monogram station clamoring for personalized totes and towels, and bought every last metallic driving moccasin.

And here are some of my favorite pics of the adorable store!

And not to worry if you're not in NYC, the online shop will be open soon here.
