It's a new year and time to GetFIT! The GetFit 2008 program encompasses both smoking cessation and weight reduction. Cleveland based Fit Technologies, an information technology services company has come up with an amazing incentive program.




When an employee quits smoking and remains smoke-free for six months, FIT will award the employee with a $500.00 bonus:


·         Employees must notify Human Resources by email within one week of the date when they quit smoking. 


·         When employees reach six months of non-smoking, employees must notify Human Resources by completing and signing the Smoking Cessation Verification Form that they have successfully stopped smoking for six months.   (copy of form attached for reference)


·         The bonus is a one-time award to employees.




The Weight Reduction incentive program offers a series of incentives.  To participate in the program, employees must have a reduction goal of 10% of their weight or greater.


·         Employees will establish a goal weight/reduction percentage. (Official weigh-in required)


·         Employees will receive a $100.00 bonus for each 10% increment of weight loss from the initial weigh-in weight. (Official weigh-in required)


·         When employees reach their established goal weight, they notify Human Resources to confirm the goal has been reached.  (Official weigh-in required) 


o        Scenario A: Once employees maintain their goal weight (within 2 lbs.) for 90 days, they will receive a $500.00 bonus.  (Official weigh-in required) 


o        Scenario B: If after 90 days, employees exceed the 2 lb. cushion, employees will need to return to their goal weight and maintain the goal weight for 30 days to receive the $500.00 bonus


o        Scenario C: If an employee's established goal weight meets the Weight Guide below, and they maintain the goal weight (within 2 lbs.) for 90 days they will receive a $500.00 bonus. 


§         These employees are eligible for an additional anniversary incentive: If an employee maintains his/her weight (within 2 lbs.) listed on the Weight Ranges chart for 12 months, he/she will receive $500.00 annually.  (Official weigh-in on the Anniversary required)

Achieve established goal weight and maintain goal weight (within 2 lbs) for 90 days




Achieve established goal weight listed on the Weight Ranges Chart and maintain goal weight (within 2 lbs.) for 90 days




Annual anniversary of employee maintaining weight (within 2 lbs) listed on the Weight Ranges Chart

In additional to the above incentives, we have added a little competitive edge to the weight reduction program as follows:


·         The female and male employees who have the highest percentage of weight loss on quarterly weigh-ins from the initial weigh-in will receive a $250.00 bonus.  The winners will be announced within 1 week of the weigh-in.  Quarterly weigh-in dates are listed by area below.


·         The top-three female and top-three male employees who have the higher percentage of weight loss at the final competitive weigh-in for 2008 (as listed by area below) will be announced at the holiday party.

  Now that's incentive!  Hopefully more companies across the country will take the same approach as Fit Technologies!
