I'm Zana Roberts. I'm fashion editor with Marie Claire. Today, we are shooting super models wearing denim. Each of them has their own charity and I've talked with Helena Christensen, a super model herself.

Zana Roberts came to me and said she wanted to do a denim photo shoot with the former super model Helena Christensen shooting the photos. We wanted to shoot denim. We always do denim in August. It's very important for our readers. We all wear denim. We love it and so she said, "What if we get Helena to call some of her friends and I'll call some super models and we'll do with the super models in denim?"

Denim? It's is one of my best friends. Very loyal. Intimate.

With denim. Oh, I didn't know it was a denim story.

But you know, there's always fashion in.

I think it's like-- it's the ultimate classic but it's also a very American classic that has become the global uniform.

My relationship with denim is an awkward one at best. I adore the color. I love the durability, but I don't love the way that it always fits me.

A denim, of course, is stable of every woman's wardrobe. I mean, no matter if dresses come in and out of season or pants or slacks or what have you, jeans are always sort of our best friend.

Denim, now, it's-- it's not actually a staple. It's more a statement, you know. You choose a style of denim, which says more about you. We've got more than 15 super models. Some of them, you wouldn't have seen in shoots for sometime. We have Christy Turlington, Iman, Petra Nemcova. It's an amazing list of people and they all agreed to do it for charity.

An obvious choice to shoot is it was Helena, being a super model herself, which heavily involved with charity work.

I have known Helena at least a good 10 years as a model and she has photographed me. After the first time she has photographed me, I was pregnant with my daughter with David Bowie and she has definitely grown so well as a photographer.

She always had this little other thing going where you can see that she was going to do other things in her life and she's an artist. You know, she thinks like an artist. She acts like an artist and I've never been photographed by her before, so I was really curious to see what a woman of her beauty, how she would photograph other women.

She's just like, okay, this, this and I love her style so I'm-- so I'm all for it. So that's great, yeah. The American public does see a lot of images of celebrities wearing different things, and denim is one of them. So, we had the models looking very much like groovy style and, you know, they were in cool necklaces. They're may be barefoot is how we figured out how to marry the idea of showcasing the super models. Talking about what charities they support, but also showing all the new shapes of denim. We're going to be auctioning off some of the photographs at a big bash that we're gonna have and it's again, it's a great way to have fun and feel good while doing good and that's a sort of perfect Marie Claire mixture, if you like.

We all come together now. It's amazing really. See you later there. I know this is really running on. You know, all the girls are coming and this is so satisfying.

I think it's a really good way of promoting the cause that I have and that all these girls have and it's a really nice vehicle for models like us to get that kind of stuff out there.

I am the global ambassador for Keep a Child Alive.

It is an organization that provides ARV Antiretroviral drugs for AIDS victims in Africa especially children.

I am concentrating my attention on the charity called First Book, which provides books to low income families and it's-- it's just reading is something that's incredibly important to me and it's kind of a joy that I would like to see spread out a little bit more than it is now.

My cause is family dynamics. New York States had cuts many budgets off to September 11th and one of them was after school programs. It's important to go out there and reach out and challenge yourself. So, I think one of the motivations for the super models to turn out and model for us was they love Marie Claire. They love the magazine. They love the fact that we have a global aspect to us and they love the fact that we have a charitable aspect to some of the pages. I think they love working with Helena. They love the fact that she's one of them and then she branched out and did something else.

I cared for you baby.

I'm Yeng Chou and I'm the beauty director at Marie Claire. This is my first week so I've only been here one week exactly five days and everyone's been really great. Joanna's fantastic. She has great energy and everyone's been really receptive. So I'm excited to be here.
