Blake Lively Secretly Matched Her Met Gala Dress to the Carpet Every Year

Blake Lively confirmed that yes, she was purposely matching her dress to the Met Gala carpet for three years. This confession shook multiple celebrities, including her good friend Gigi Hadid.

Last night would've been this year's Met Gala, and Blake Lively, like many other celebrities, was feeling nostalgic. The actress posted a gallery of photos on Instagram of the dresses she wore for her last three galas. She also confirmed that yes, she purposely matched the carpet. This confession shook multiple celebrities, including her good friend Gigi Hadid.

"...when the carpet matches the Blakes. Met Ball 2018, 2017, 2016," Lively wrote.

Hadid commented, "How far in advance do you have to tell Anna [Wintour] what color to make the carpet?"

Cazzie David added, "Did you do this only for the insta slide 4 years later cause if so I’d understand."

Lively is famously her own stylist and dresses herself for the gala. She explained to Women's Wear Daily that her relationship with designers helps her get outfits for red carpet events like the Met Gala. "It's a lot of work [but] I mean, it’s not hard in that we all dress ourselves every morning," she said. "Once you have the clothes, you just pick out what to wear like any other human being does…The hard part is going through all the fashion shows and screenshotting all the looks you like and calling them in. I have an assistant who helps in calling in the looks. But a lot of it is I have relationships with the designers."

"I have control issues and a big ego—that’s probably the honest answer [for why I won't hire a stylist],” she deadpanned to WWD before answering more seriously. “I just like it. I love design and I love fashion and it’s a way to be creative. In my job I get to be creative, but it’s over a period of time and so many other people are involved, whereas this is a beginning, middle, and end, and I get to be creative and there’s an end date in the near future. It’s the same reason why I like doing my friends’ hair and makeup or cooking—you get to be creative and finish it."
