L'Wren Scott Dead: Fashion Designer Found Dead of Apparent Suicide
Devastating.
It has been confirmed that fashion designer L'Wren Scott was found dead in her apartment on Monday.
The 47-year-old fashion designer was reportedly found by her assistant hanging in her New York City apartment around 10 a.m., authorities said.
Mick Jagger, who she has been romatically linked to for more than a decade, is currently on tour in Perth, Australia. "He is completely shocked and devastated by the news," said Jagger's spokesperson via Digital Spy.
According to the New York Daily News, Scott texted her assistant at 8:30 a.m. and asked her to come over. When she arrived, she let herself in with a key, found Scott's body, and called 911.
Scott, who canceled her show during London Fashion Week last month, was known for her eponymous collection, as well as dressing some of Hollywood's most notable celebrities, inlcuding Penelope Cruz, Salma Hayek, Nicole Kidman, and Amy Adams.
Born Laura "Luann" Bambrough, the 6-foot-4 beauty was raised Mormon by adoptive parents in Utah. She made her foray into the fashion industry modeling in high school. During a Calvin Klein photoshoot, she was spotted by Bruce Weber, who advised her to go to Paris where she would eventually walk the runway for Chanel and Thierry Mugler. In the early 1990's, Scott moved to California and began styling. Her first assignments included styling Jim Carrey for a Rolling Stone cover and Elizabeth Taylor for her White Diamonds fragrance campaign. In 1996, she designed Sharon Stone's wardrobe for Diabolique, and went on to create costumes for Ocean's Thirteen, Eyes Wide Shut, and Shine a Light, a documentary about The Rolling Stones directed by Martin Scorsese.
In 2006, she debuted her first collection named Little Black Dress, which showcased her famed "Headmistress" sheath dress. She recently collaborated with Banana Republic on a women's capsule collection.
