If you can't wait for The Walking Dead's Season 8 premiere, then you're in luck, as the first three minutes have been released and you can watch them right now below.
In the opening of "Mercy," Rick (Andrew Lincoln) gathers with the Hilltop and Kingdom communities to rally the troops against Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). Rick tells the gathered listeners:
That's clearly a warning for Negan, whose presence hangs over the sequence, despite the fact that we don't actually see him. But we do see turncoat Dwight (Austin Amelio) receiving a secret message from Daryl (Norman Reedus) via an arrow, of course.
It certainly looks like The Walking Dead won't waste any time declaring war in the season premiere.
There's also a very brief glimpse into the room that seems to match previous teaser footage of Old Man Rick, set to the surprising soundtrack selection of Weird Al' Yankovic's 1981 Queen parody "Another One Rides the Bus."
Showrunner Scott Gimple has recently warned fans that they'll have to wait to find out what's going on with Old Man Rick. "We will not get the definitive answer as to what that's about in the premiere," he explained. "That won't come until about halfway into the season."
The Walking Dead airs its 100th episode on Sunday (October 22) on AMC. Fans can also get an exclusive VR scene featuring Negan through the new AMC VR app.
