Over the weekend, the much-anticipated It came out in theaters.

The thing much, much less predicted: people actually finding Pennywise the Dancing Clown (Who Also Murders Children and Has Rows of Jagged Teeth to Better Rip Your Flesh Off) hot.

Now, to be clear, Pennywise is played by Bill Skarsgård, who is, indeed an attractive man. Alexander is truly all of us in this photo.

But some people are debating the hotness of his actual clown character:

Even Bill says he hopes he isn't seen as hot in this movie because, ya know, he worked really hard on the whole creeping-you-out-for-at-least-a-solid-week thing.

Anyway, there are still plenty of people who have no idea what's going on.

And then there are people who'll remind you that having the hots for a fictional homicidal clown is 100 percent your freedom as an American.
