Sezane’s New Fall Drop Is Filled With French Wardrobe Staples
They've got perfect ladylike cardigans, chunky knits, and suede pieces for your cold-weather closet.
I’m a born-and-bred New Yorker, but I'm looking to the far-flung streets of Paris for fall 2024 fashion inspiration. Or at least, I’m turning to brands like Sézane, adored by the stylish French girls I follow on Instagram and TikTok, to fill the holes in my closet. The brand is known for its range of cozy knits, but the rest of Sézane's just-dropped fall collection has everything you need to give your wardrobe a seasonal refresh.
I’m talking about a selection of fall jackets and coats that will become the backbone of your layered outfits, a few cozy fall cardigans, and other chunky knits that look right at home in either fashionable city. They come in almost all of fall 2024’s trending colors, and even a few work-ready totes tap into the season's most in-demand bag trends. These sit alongside French-girl staple shoes like chunky black loafers and sleek ballet flats.
However, Sézane's new collection is downright massive, so I did the hard part for you and perused dozens of fall essentials to find the best options. Almost every item on this list retails under $250; save for a few genuinely splurge-worthy pieces you’ll live in for years to come.
Burgundy is trending right now, and this port-wine-hued cardigan from the brand is proof.
White button-down shirts are a fall wardrobe staple. This one has a boxy, slightly oversized fit, making it the perfect option to buy now and wear forever.
This all-time classic trench coat is made from a water-repellant material, making it a great option for those misty fall days.
Gray is one of the season's most popular colors, and this sweater is one I plan on buying in the hue.
With an oversized hood and a hidden drawcord at the waist, this coat combines form and function.
High-coverage flats are trending for the fall season—just ask Katie Holmes! This suede pair comes in a few colors for you to choose from.
It doesn't get more classic than this black wool sweater. I would layer it over a white turtleneck for added warmth or a white T-shirt for a borrowed-from-the-boys look.
Leopard print is everywhere this season. If you don't want to pick a full-on patterned piece, try this belt.
This wool and kid mohair cardigan has delicately puffed sleeves for a little something extra.
Add a bright shade into your neutrals-only fall closet with this orange version of the Amiel Jumper.
You can (and should!) wear white after Labor Day. I love this this boxy cardigan for a winter-whites look.
This wool jacket is basically a warmer version of a classic shacket. It comes in two colors—light tan and a black iteration—and has a boxy fit that makes it easy to layer.
I love the olive green hue this tote comes in. The shade is one of fall's biggest color trends, so it's a great way to refresh your wardrobe for the new season.
Fall is for layering lightweight jackets over all of your favorite outfits. This cropped one has a hidden zipper and a high, wrapped neckline for added warmth.
Swap your jeans for this pair of stretchy suede cropped trousers—your fall office outfit selection will thank you.
Not all sweaters need to be chunky. This lightweight knit will carry you through the winter and into the spring.
The glossy bag above hits on one of this season's fall trends, and this Gabine Maxi bag hits on another: Suede.
Yes, this navy blue cardigan is reversible. The dainty pearl buttons perfectly elevate it.
You can style this blazer with the matching mini skirt for a Clueless-inspired fashion moment, or you can wear it with black jeans and a white tee.
Wear this navy sweater jacket hybrid with a pair of matching navy trousers for a monochromatic look.
Denim maxi skirts are trending, but I would instead shop for a suede version to tap into the '70s-inspired boho trend.
For a chic double-denim look, try a lightweight denim shirt jacket. You can team it with a matching pair of jeans in the same hue or a darker-wash pair.
Suede mini dresses look perfect with over-the-knee boots or chunky loafers. They're surprisingly versatile.
Speaking of chunky loafers, they were one of the comfortable shoe trends I spotted on the streets in Paris and Milan. They're the perfect alternative for your white sneakers.
Taylor Swift co-signed the heeled loafer trend. This pair is a slightly more wearable version of the trend.
