I'm Lauren, associate editor for MarieClaire.com. Come springtime, I like to revamp my wardrobe with a mix of breezy-chic staples and a slew of new styling tricks I've picked up from the runways or streets of NYC. Click through to see how I style two of my favorite weekend looks.

Trick #1: Keep Your Look Versatile
Yes, a Saturday morning affords you the right to run out for coffee in your pajamas (no judgement here), but on the weekend it's all about adaptability. Go for easy pieces that work for different parts of the day—you never know if a brunch invitation will turn into an impromptu all-day shopping trip followed by dinner and drinks.

Fabrics are important, too. I love a look so cozy that I can curl up in bed with the paper, but run out the door at a moment's notice.

Trick #2: Wear a Dress Over Your Jeans
During spring, when there's a perpetual cool breeze in the air, I like to layer my dresses, like this
Tie-Waist
number, over jeans. It ensures I'm never too chilly, but more importantly, is kind of unexpected.

Trick #3: Drawstrings = Spring Tailoring Hack
For instant-tailoring, I love a drawstring belt that cinches the waist in a matter of seconds, but doesn't feel constraining.

Trick #4: Show Off Your Collar
Peek-a-boo details are my favorite part of layering. The ocelot print on this silk blouse serves as an unexpected pop underneath my solid dress.

Trick #5: Substitute a Onsie for a Dress
I'm a jumpsuit enthusiast through-and-through, but especially during the spring as they're the perfect dress alternative.
Gap's 1969 linen denim jumpsuit
is just as versatile as my favorite pair of jeans.

If you can lounge on your couch and eat breakfast in a romper, it's a keeper. Trust.

Trick #6: Throw a Scarf On It
It's my personal belief that a scarf is the accessory equivalent of
je ne sais quoi
. No matter how you style it, it dresses up a look in a seemingly effortless fashion. I'm particularly fond of tying it around the neck for some retro polish.

Trick #7: Wear Your Jacket On Your Shoulders
Throw a leather jacket over anything and it's instantly cooler, obviously—but wearing said jacket on your shoulders? It transforms a look before you even walk out the door.
