The sweet, sweet days of summer may be fading fast, but that doesn't mean you have to pack up your dresses with your bikinis, jorts and crop tops. Instead, repurpose your fave warm-weather one-pieces into seasonally-appropriate looks with layered elements and bold accessories. René Daniella, the beauty behind the Instagram account @ownbyfemme shows us how she styles flirty frocks straight through to the holiday season. Read on for serious inspo and why she loves each of these dresses so much.
1. Colorful Cool
Even the brightest floral print can transition into fall, especially if it has a few darker tones worked into the mix. "This dress has this unique pattern on it, so it's really eye catching," she says." It's multi-seasonal—you can wear it in the spring or the fall, and you can wear it to an indoor event or an outdoor event. It's very versatile."
2. Boss Babe
Perfect for a work-to-play kind of day, this pencil-dress-with-a-twist is great under a blazer or by itself. "I love that this really accentuates your figure without showing too much," Daniella says. "There's never a wrong time for a little black dress."
3. Legs and Lace
A little French-inspired lace is never a bad idea. A pussybow makes it chic and a short length keeps things fun. "This is a very playful dress," she says. "Definitely ready for parties...or whatever!"
4. Red for the Holidays
Newsflash: OTK boots are the new cool-kid version of stockings when the weather turns frigid. "I love these boots, especially with the feminine dress!" Daniella says. "They're a great option when you don't feel like wearing tights. There's a certain length the over-the-knee can go that's really flattering, and they let you wear a shorter dress when it's cold. Plus, this gorgeous red color looks stunning with the black."
5. A New Kind of Sweater
Sweater dresses are a great alternative to your typical jeans-and-cashmere ensemble, and can be paired with a fun outer layer. "This is my absolute favorite jacket in the entire world!" she says. "I love the patches, I love the overall design, I love the color—it really is perfect for fall."
