1 Vest, 3 Ways
Wanna get more style mileage? Three MC editors show us how by taking the same piece and putting their own spin on it.

"The temptation is to do a classic menswear pairing of vest with trousers. But adding an unexpected sheer blouse and platforms is much more fun."

THE LOOK: Sexy tomboy
HER CONCEPT: "It's all about playing with proportions. A skinny pant needs a multilayered top — the season's oversize vest is tailor-made for this."
ON THE VEST: Zanna enthuses, "The big vest" — prevalent all over fall runways — "evokes a menswear look and replaces both the shrunken vest and the blazer. It can even be worn as a light overcoat." Fashion meets function!
GOOD FOR: Its versatility. "No-fuss days when you have little time for wardrobe changes — or can't wait in line to check your coat! Light enough so you won't notice you're wearing it, and, in true tomboy fashion, you could skip the purse and stash cash in your pockets."
GO-WITHS: "High-waist trousers with large side pockets are forgiving to all figures," explains Zanna. "A flirty see-through blouse is a great contrast to all the edginess. The gunmetal color and adjustable sleeves are for a girl in control."
THE DETAILS: "The two-tone platforms are hot and remarkably easy to walk in, while a bag with a long strap says "easygoing." Don't forget the hat this fall: It's effortlessly rock-and-roll."
HAIR AND MAKEUP: "Between the red lips and the black nails, it's classic siren meets tough chick."
ZANNA'S STYLE TIPS
- Dressing warm is sexy and smart — pile on layer upon layer.
- Keep style personal. Whether you're a low-maintenance minimalist or extravagantly girly, accessorize accordingly.
- The right proportions are as important as choosing the right pieces — i.e., a baggier top with skintight bottoms works well; wide-leg looks work best with fitted jackets and lean tanks.
