Before you read any further, be warned that this story is for glow-getters only. If you don't have an undesirable urge to glow from head-to-toe, you should 1.) reevaluate your glow goals and 2.) click out of this article now. Now that you've made the right decision to secure your skin's ultimate glow-up, let's get down to business and talk body shimmer. I'm not talking about the sparkly bottle you bought from Victoria's Secret or Bath & Body Works in the 7th grade—let's pour one out for throwback beauty products that will always have a special place in our hearts. I'm here to share with you the best body shimmers I've been testing all spring for summer.

I have absolutely no shame in my glow game. I put on highlighter as often as I wash my face: every day, and your glow shouldn't stop at your face. Here's the thing: there's no in-between with body shimmers—the formula can either be really good or really bad. Bad body shimmers are sticky, messy, and melt all over your clothes. If that has happened to you, I'm sorry and R.I.P. to that cute top. However, I'd like to encourage you to give body shimmer a second chance.

The onset of spring has welcomed a new batch of body shimmers to the bunch. I went ahead and risked my favorite crop tops and summer dresses for the love of the glow, and tested new launches to find out which body shimmers are the absolute best. Enjoy my photos wearing copious amounts of body shimmer, which further prove I'm glow-obsessed, and find out how it all went down.

    Body Shimmer Score: 10/10

Full disclosure: I'm 100-percent a proud member of the Rihanna Navy. And I didn't need much convincing that this tall bottle was made of pure magic after watching this iconic video of Rihanna applying Body Lava. It has a buttery slip that glides right onto your skin and cloaks your complexion with light-reflecting micropearls. The luminous glow it leaves behind will make you skin feel soft and cushiony. Most importantly, it doesn't transfer at all because it absorbs into your skin (rather than sitting on top of your skin and smudging everything that touches it).

I prefer body oil over lotion—the soothing sensation of an oil makes my dry skin feel so hydrated. This has the same effect. This body shimmer is made with coconut oil, açaí oil, and cupuaçu butter, which are full of fatty acids and antioxidants that nourish the skin with ample moisture. Besides the fact that these glow particles kissed my skin with shimmer, the scent is what I'm really here for. The smell of this body shimmer alone, which is of the addictive Brazilian Bum Bum Cheirosa ’62 scent, will win you over. Imagine salted caramel and pistachio in a product. So much yum—but sadly, no, you absolutely cannot eat this.

Patrick Ta is the man behind the major glow of his star-studded clients, like Gigi and Bella Hadid, Kaia Gerber, Adriana Lima, Taylor Hill, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and more. Earlier this year, Ta released his first ever "Major Glow" makeup collection, and this celestial body oil is my favorite in the line. "The body oils look great in photographs, especially if you want a little extra pop on your chest," Ta told me. It comes in two shades: “The champagne shade is called A Dream—it’s full of white pearls, smells so good, and it makes your skin shine for hours. The other shade is called A Moment, for when you're feeling a little extra. It has pink, gold, and bronze pearl in it.”

After marveling at this video showcasing the intergalactic glow these oils give the skin, I gave it a whirl myself. I have two words to describe the results: next-level. Summer is a few days away, and if you're craving a far-from-subtle shimmer that will dominate your selfies with an insanely amazing glow, buy this.

What I love the most about this body oil is that it's a super-fine mist. Sometimes, a big pump or squirt of body shimmer can turn into greasy disaster because it dispenses way too much product. However, this light-as-a-feather formula absorbs so quickly into the skin, imparting a gorgeous shimmer. This is the "chill" option of all five body oils, when you want a low-key glow that's barely there, but there. It's buildable, though, if you're seeking more of a vivid sheen. Because I'm a fragrance enthusiast, I must point out that this tropical, coconut-vanilla scent smells like a trip to the Figi Islands.

As mentioned earlier, body shimmer from the late '90's and early 2000's have come a long way. Try to block out those streaky body shimmer memories from your mind because this water-based and transfer-resistant formula does the complete opposite. After taking a deskside with the brand, a representative mentioned to shake this bottle right before I use it and waste no time lathering it into my skin quickly as soon as I apply it. Like a good shimmer student, I followed those directions and was impressed by the sun-kissed glow it left on my deep skin tone. I took it with me on a weekend getaway to Miami, and it even held up on South Beach. The 85-degree weather and scorching sun I laid out in all day didn't stand a chance against this long-standing shimmer.
