Everyone Was Obsessed With This Almost-Iconic 'Sex and the City' Dress in 1998

Marc Jacobs posted all the proof.

This week, we learned that the outfit Sarah Jessica Parker wears in the Sex and the City opening credits was almost very different. Instead of the iconic tulle tutu, Carrie almost wore a pretty blue dress instead.

"There were two wardrobes. One was the tutu, and we did one pass where Sarah Jessica was wearing a blue dress and didn't get splashed; instead, she trips when she sees the ad," show creator Darren Star told Entertainment Weekly of filming the credits in March 1998.

Now, we know a little more about the dress. It's a Marc Jacobs design, and Kate Moss walked the look in Spring 1998.

What's more, Winona Ryder was a real-life fan of the dress and wore it after Kate modeled it on the runway.

The more you know.
