- Actor Simon Rex says he was offered $70K to lie about dating Meghan Markle.
- Simon has been inaccurately reported as one of Meghan’s exes even though they were never in a relationship.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry recently resigned from their senior royal duties and moved to Canada, and if you’re wondering why they felt the need to take such drastic measures, mayyybe it’s because what they were going through in England was legit insane.
Meghan truly couldn’t catch a break with the British press, and now it’s come to light that one publication actually tried to pay actor Simon Rex to lie about their relationship. In fact, the 45-year-old actor has often been labeled as one of Meghan’s “ex-boyfriends,” but nope, not so much.
“Nothing happened. We never even kissed. It was just like, we hung out once in a very non-date-y way,” Simon explained on the Hollywood Raw podcast. “She was just someone I had met on a TV show and, like, we got lunch. That was the extent of it.”
Except that when news of that particular hang session broke, British tabloids tried to pay Simon to lie about the extent of his relationship with Meghan. “The tabloids, actually, when that story broke, a couple British tabloids offered to pay me a lot of money to say a lie that we actually hooked up,” he said. “And dude. I said no to a lot of money because I didn’t feel right lying and f*cking up the royal f*cking family....”
Oh, and Simon also confirmed the specific $ amount, saying, “It was a lot of money, man. I think they offered me, like, $70,000.”
Say it with me: THIS IS SO MESSED UP.
