Spring 2026’s Fringe Trend Is Bringing Anti-Minimalism Back

From frayed skirts to tasseled handbags, here are the playful pieces worth shopping.

During the Spring 2026 fashion week circuit, quiet luxury became, well, a bit quieter. While streamlined silhouettes, clean lines, and neutral color palettes remained common, a surge of anti-minimalism trends also emerged, drawing more attention. Some of the most notable examples include vibrant floral appliqués, billowing bubble hemlines, and, perhaps my favorite, fanciful fringed fabrics.

At Chanel, clothing and accessories with loose threads took center stage. Creative Director Matthieu Blazy crafted feathery tweed jackets, shaggy skirts, and tendril-like brooches. Elsewhere, Gabriela Hearst took a Western-inspired approach to fringe, showcasing rodeo-ready suede jackets adorned with dangling beads. On the accessory front, brands like Acne Studio, Ferragamo, and Balmain championed handbags, totes, and clutches stitched with decorative tassels. Many other designers also showcased their runways with a sea of frayed styles, endorsing a “more is more” philosophy.

The fringe trend isn’t just for staunch maximalists—more minimal dressers can enjoy it too. If your style leans toward simplicity, try a blouse with a subtle fringed hem or a delicate pendant necklace with a tiny tassel.

Ahead, you’ll find a variety of fringed pieces sorted by category—crafted for statement makers, minimalists, and everyone in between. Add these styles to your warm-weather wardrobe, and watch as your rotation of spring outfits reaches full bloom.

This season, ditch your plain old LBD for a fringed number that’s guaranteed to stand apart from the rest. The flattering dresses below from Lamarque and Norma Kamali will rise to the occasion for chic al fresco dinners, while PatBO’s tiered mini dress will work well for sun-kissed moments by the shore.

Provided that you don’t want to dress in fringed fabrics from head to toe, you can always opt for a frayed handbag that won’t consume your entire outfit. Both Reformation and Polo Ralph Lauren offer suede bags that are ideal for everyday wear. Meanwhile, Staud’s raffia version is perfect for any vacation wardrobe.

As we transition into spring, temperatures are still in flux. To tackle the in-between season in style, slip into Lovers and Friends’ Jovana cardigan, cut from knit fabric. Then, when the weather warms up, try sleeveless options from Zara and Cult Gaia.

I never would’ve pegged myself as a fringed bottoms type of gal, but as soon as I saw Roame’s satin pants, that all changed. For those moments when I’m not in the mood to wear jeans or tailored trousers, I’ll hop into these floaty bottoms—or I’ll reach for unraveled skirts from Jaded London and Simon Miller.

Ask me about the most viral shoe trends of spring 2026, and I’ll definitely mention high-vamp flats, suede heels, and peep-toe sandals. Below, you’ll discover a handpicked list of all those styles, each decorated with a lively fringed twist.

Inspired by the suede jackets on Gabriela Hearst’s Spring 2026 runway, I recently added similar styles from Levi’s and Open Edit to my wish list. I’m also eyeing More to Come’s leather alternative, which boasts more of an edgy appeal.

I love nothing more than a simple pair of gold hoops, but lately, I’ve been experimenting with jewels that embrace a DIY feel. In the pursuit of crafty accessories, I recently stumbled upon tassel earrings from Tory Burch and Sophie Buhai, as well as a gorgeous pendant necklace from Petit Moments.
