3 Effortlessly Cool Ways to Wear Winter’s Cherry Red Color Trend
This viral shade will instantly elevate your wardrobe.
On dreary winter days, I rarely feel like changing out of my sweatpants or leaving the house. However, for those moments when I'm forced to brave bone-chilling temperatures, I often rely on my rotation of colorful cold-weather outfits. Defying quiet luxury for something a bit more boisterous serves as a sartorial equivalent of a sour skittle—it instantly perks me up.
One way to approach this whole dopamine dressing situation is to opt for cherry red—a color trend that has recently crept its way into neutral territory, despite how bright it actually is. Take, for example, Tory Burch’s Fall 2025 runway, where this saturated hue was paired with electric green and chocolate brown. That’s versatility, baby!
Whether you follow Tory Burch's lead or decide to lean into shades that are a bit more subdued (like plum or butter yellow), the styling options are endless.
Cherry Red and Cerulean Blue
Ever since buying my Nike x Jacquemus sneakers, I've been reaching for them nonstop. I’ve owned colorful sneakers before, but never a cherry-red pair like this. While they might seem alarmingly bright at first glance, I’ve found that they’re actually more versatile than expected. These shoes offer a super playful way to bring a little more color into my winter wardrobe.
Here, I styled them with my Alex Mill x J.Press sweater for a little Crayola-inspired combination that doesn’t feel overly attention-grabby. I finished with a multi-color necklace and my little Fane shoulder bag.
Cherry Red, Plum, and Black
Moody yet sophisticated, the red-and-plum duo is an easy winter color combination that goes especially well with neutrals—notably black. Instead of wearing blue jeans, I swapped in a red pair from Madewell, which I dressed up with a Veronica de Piante jacket and a pair of Khaite slingbacks.
Since this is absolutely a going-out-to-drinks-uptown ensemble, I kept my purse teeny, with a little plum number from Liffner. Then, I scooted out to the subway to meet my friend for our rendez-vous on the town (heavy jacket in tow, of course).
Cherry Red, Bubblegum Pink, and Tangerine Orange
Winter tends to be the season for jewel tones, but I always find that punchy colors don’t feel out of place when you commit to mixing them together in an intentional way.
Here, a big squishy red scarf is like the topper on a fruit salad-coded outfit mixed with tangerine and grapefruit hues. I completed the look with Still Here’s Supply Jeans and a pair of tall J.Crew boots. It’s an outfit that has springtime energy, while being warm enough for the current climate.
As an added bonus, a colorful beanie can serve as the cherry on top.
