After weeks of suspense over what Chelsea Handler's next project will be after leaving her late-night talk show, the news is finally here — and it's big.

Handler has teamed up with Netflix to create a talk show that could be released as early as 2016. In the meantime, an hour-long stand-up comedy show will also premiere on Netflix on Oct. 10, 2014. The special, based on her sold-out tour, Uganda Be Kidding Me, will be filmed Friday, June 20, in Chicago's Harris Theater. She also plans to create four new documentary specials covering topics in including politics, NASCAR, the NBA draft, and Silicon Valley.

After Handler revealed she was sick of talking to celebrities and would rather talk to people who can educate her, we knew her next project would be something different. "If I was going to continue working in this industry, I knew I had to do something outside the box to keep myself interested," Handler said in a statement. "I wanted to sit with the cool kids at lunch, so I approached Netflix to make sure they were as cool as I thought they were, and when I confirmed my suspicions, like with any other future lover, I made my move."

Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos is glad to have Handler on board — in a statement, he said, "Chelsea has built a huge following on tour, on nightly TV and through her bestselling books, and we can't wait to introduce her breathtakingly honest and irreverent voice to our global membership."

Knowing her hilarious history on TV, we can't wait, either.
