Kate Middleton Wears Princess Diana's Favorite Tiara in a New Royal Family Photo

It was loaned to Kate by the Queen herself.

Just like her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, the Duchess of Cambridge has made a name for herself as a style icon. And it looks like she's not only taking cues from Diana, but she's also paying homage to her by wearing her tiara.

On Thursday night, Kate, Prince William, and the rest of the royals took part in the annual Diplomatic Reception, honoring U.K. diplomats who work around the world. People reports that the Duchess of Cambridge wore one of Princess Diana's favorite tiaras, the Cambridge Lover's Knot, which is one of the most well-known tiaras in the Royal Family's collection.

She reportedly was loaned the tiara by the Queen herself, and the headpiece was actually from the Queen's mother, Queen Mary. And Kate loves it too; she actually wore the same one at last year's Diplomatic Reception. Thursday night was only the fourth time she has chosen to wear a tiara, according to the Telegraph.

The tiara isn't the only thing Kate wore a second time. She also re-wore the same red Jenny Packham dress that she wore last year at an official state banquet. When a look works well, why retire it after wearing it just once?
