Iconic fashion designer Oscar de la Renta has passed away at age 82 after being diagnosed with cancer in 2006. The much-beloved designer was born in the Dominican Republic in 1932 and studied painting at the Academy of San Fernando in Madrid before assisting in the atelier's of Cristóbal Balenciaga and Lanvin, launching his New York-based line in 1965.
Throughout his decades-long career the famed fashion designer has dressed A-List celebrities and iconic public figures, including Jacqueline Kennedy and Michelle Obama. Most recently he created George Clooney's bride Amal Alamuddin's wedding gown, and throughout his emponymous career, has created a legacy of beautiful ready-to-wear. He will be sorely missed.
